South Congress epitomizes the hip, trendy ambiance of Austin. The consumption district for people who claim to dislike consumption districts. It's possibly one of the city’s best-known neighborhoods and is brimming with things to see, places to shop, and bars and restaurants to drink and dine. SoCo is a walkable exhibition of Austin’s one-of-a-kind slightly offbeat local character where you’re just as likely to belly up to a bar next to a cowboy as you are to a movie star.

About Your Guide

Hey, Sidewalkers! I'm Abby: a Creative Director here in Austin. I grew up in Boston, but moved here from Chicago. I fell in love with Austin's great weather, creative & talented folks, and the amount of nature dispersed throughout the city. I adore taking road trips around Texas with my boyfriend, Alex; we've been to Marfa, Alpine, Houston, Corpus Christi, and Fredericksburg... but love calling Austin home. My passions include essay writing, contour drawing, light studying, pie baking, and people watching. I hope to do some world traveling in the next few years: Greece, Spain, and Japan are high on my list.

Amazing!! I brought my wife on this walk and she loved it. Cocktails and a bite on the patio at Perlas made us feel like we were truly on vacation. I also may have bought a pair of boots at Allens. 🙊

APANAS IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED. This was a huge bummer because this was one of the “red gift” places. Joes and the Continental Club were really awesome though!
